My Approach to Individual Therapy
As a psychoanalytic therapist in West Los Angeles, I believe our symptoms and struggles carry meaning. They are not simply obstacles to be removed, but messages from parts of ourselves that are waiting to be heard. In our sessions, I listen for what is spoken and, just as importantly, for what remains unsaid. My work is to help you explore your associations, dreams, and the feelings that arise within the therapeutic relationship itself.
This process of adult individual therapy helps bring what has been unconscious into awareness. By understanding the underlying sources of your pain, you can move beyond simply managing symptoms and toward a life lived with greater clarity, freedom, and authenticity. This is the foundation for overcoming anxiety and depression and developing a more sustainable way of navigating stress.

What to Expect from Our Work Together
Psychoanalytic therapy is a unique and profound journey. You can expect a confidential and consistent space where you are invited to speak freely about whatever comes to mind. We will typically meet at least once a week to allow for the depth and continuity necessary for this work to unfold.
Through our conversations, we will begin to notice recurring themes and patterns. The therapeutic relationship itself often becomes a key vehicle for transformation, as the very struggles that bring you to therapy may emerge between us. It is within this relational context that true understanding and transformation can take root.

Many therapies focus on alleviating symptoms. Psychoanalytic therapy aims to address the root causes of your suffering. By exploring the unconscious drivers of your thoughts and behaviors, we work toward a deep transformation that can lead to more permanent and meaningful change.

Whatever you like. There is no right or wrong thing to discuss. Your free associations, the thoughts, feelings, memories, and dreams that arise spontaneously, will provide us with the essential material we need to work with. My role is to listen with precision and help you make connections.

Consistency is key to this work. We will meet at least once a week. Some clients choose to meet more frequently (2+ times a week) to deepen the process and allow for patterns to emerge more clearly, much as they do in other close relationships.
